Mother’s Day is the traditional day to celebrate your Mother. Mothers of all ages can receive gifts and love from their children and grandchildren to honor the gift of raising us and sacrificing their time to help us become adults. Gifts do not need to be expensive, some just take thoughtfulness and time on our part to make the day special.
1. The least expensive gift is your time. Go visit and spend time with your mother. This can be doing chore she has needed to get done. Playing a card game, telling stories, going through the family photos or just visiting. See what she would like to do and join her on her Day.
2. A spa time. Most people think a spa is a very expensive indulgence. But if you do not have the funds to send Mom to a Spa. Create one in your home for her. A luxurius bath where no one interrupts. Allowing her to sleep in and bringing breakfast in bed. Join in and do facial masks, and cucumber eye covers, all to the soft music which allows her to relax. Get creative and have something every few hours of the day to make it her Special day.
3. Massage – Everyone, even Mothers love a good massage. You could give her a gift certificate for a professional. Or you can give her a massage yourself (if she will let you). Always set the tone with relaxing music, a nice comfortable place to lay down….and no disturbances.
4. Bouquet of flowers, or a plant for her garden. This is very traditional. You can make it special if you make the bouquet or if you do the planting of a plant for her garden. Bouquets’ can be made with silk flowers and catch the colors of her home decorations. Add touches which only have meaning between Mom and you.
5. Take Mom out to lunch or dinnner. Letting her pick her favorite restaurant, or taking her to the “new” one in the neighborhood and enjoying the time and conversation. This way niether of you have to clean up the mess. Always a good plan.
6. Take Mom on an excursion of her choice. A walk in the woods at the closest park. A trip out to the boonies and rock hunt. A visit to a museum, because she loves art. Going through a local thrift shop to find those “treasures”. Or just walking down the local main street and going to all the shops you never have time to see. Joining in a day at the local Mall. The list of excursions is as long as our list of interests. Just let Mom pick her special excursion.
7. Join Mom on a trip to the theater. Wheather you see a movie, take in a play or even go to the opera. You are still spending time, enjoying the things she enjoys the most.
Remember Mothers’ have helped mold who you are today. Mothers spend a lot of time making our lives easy when we were children. They sacrificed time and ofter experiences to ensure we were well taken care of each day. Take some time to join your Mother on her specail day, and create a wonderful memory.
